Session Overview
Climate changes affect different parts of the world in heterogeneous ways. In addition, most major greenhouse gas emitting countries are also among the least impacted countries, while most minor emitting countries often rank among the most impacted countries. In this context, a global and coordinated stand for climate changes mitigation requires place-based solutions and policies instead of one-size-fits-all type of policies.
In this session, we adopt an international perspective on designing place-based climate changes mitigation policies. Through a comparative stance, we intend to foster participants’ awareness about the heterogeneous impacts of climate changes in OECD countries’ rural areas and improve their understanding of place-based policy design.
